What is Sensory Integration?
Our environment provides our body with sensory information for all our senses (touch, sight, hearing, taste, smell, movement and body awareness). This sensory information is sent to our brain where it is then used to help us interact with our environment appropriately.
We receive sensory information constantly from our bodies and from our environment.
When our brain has difficulty with regulating and discriminating between all the sensory input coming from our environment, it leads to sensory integration difficulties or sensory processing disorders.
